CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:
The White Liars
Sophie, Baroness Lemberg (female, mid 40's to mid 60's) - A psychic. German accent. Never married. Proud. A bit of a cynic. Somewhat resigned to her present lot in life has seen happier days.
Frank (male, late teens to late 20's) - The manager of Tom's band. English accent. Middle class, soft-spoken and gentle. His manner is shy, warm and immediately likable.
Tom (male, late teens to late 20's) - Lead singer in a band. Heavy North country accent. Trendy dresser, slumps about the room. Rough in manner. A sharp contrast to Frank.
Black Comedy
Brindsley Miller (male, mid 20's to early 30's) - English accent. A young sculptor, intelligent and attractive, but nervous and uncertain of himself.
Carol Melkett (female, early 20's to early 30's) - English accent. Brindsley's fiancee. A young debutante; very pretty, very spoiled; very silly. She has a somewhat annoying voice; somewhat quackish.
Miss Furnival (female, early 40's to early 60's) - English accent. Prissy and refined. Genteel. Hair in a bun, voice in a bun. Middle class spinster. But when she gets drunk . . .
Colonel Melkett (male, 40's to mid 60's) - English accent. Carol's commanding father. Brisk, barky, yet given to sudden vocal calms which suggest a deep and alarming instability. It isn't just the dark that gives him his his look of wide-eyed suspicion.
Harold Gorringe (male, mid 30's to mid 40's) - North English accent. The bachelor owner of an antique-china shop. and Brindsley's neighbor. Harold comes from the North of England. His friendship is highly conditional and possessive; sooner or later, payment for it will be asked. A specialist in emotional blackmail, he can become hysterical when slighted, or rejected.
Clea (female, early 20's to early 30's) - English accent. Brindsley's ex-mistress. Dazzling, emotional, bright and mischievous.
Schuppanzigh (male, 40's to mid 60's) - German accent. A German refugee, chubby, cultivated, and effervescent. He is an entirely happy man, delighted to be in England, even if it means being employed full time by the London Electricity Board.
Georg Bamberger (male, late 40's to 70) - German accent. A millionaire art collector, easily identifiable as such.
The auditions will consists of cold reading excerpts from the script. Please bring headshot and resume and it is encouraged to attend both days of auditions.
